Along with yarn and sweater shopping, we will enjoy a guided food tour of Reykjavik. Following the food tour, we will visit the Reykjavik Aurora Museum, where the mysteries of the Northern Lights will be illuminated for us. The day ends with a group Welcome Dinner.
With visits to two very special Icelandic yarn shops as well as a tour of the ISTEX (Lopi) factory, Day 2 of our tour starts with an immersion in yarn! We then journey to the picturesque Borgarfjörður Fjord on the west coast. We’ll see Hraunfossar Falls, Barnafoss Falls, and Deildartunguhver, Europe's most powerful hot spring. We will then visit Ullarselið, a store celebrating the traditional and modern uses of Icelandic wool and natural materials. Add a description about this item
Our Day 3 Golden Circle adventure promises a blend of history, geology, and natural wonders. We will visit Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and Strokkur geyser, and Gullfoss (the Golden Waterfall). We will then visit the fascinating Fridheimar Tomato Farm for a tour and lunch.
Day 4 includes a half-day workshop at "Hespuhusid," where we will delve into the art of traditional Icelandic wool dyeing. Afterwards, we’ll head to "Uppspuni," a charming family-run wool processing farm, also known as a Mini Mill.
We begin our South Coast Adventure on Day 5, exploring Iceland's breathtaking landscapes and geological wonders. Stops and sights include: Mount Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull volcanoes, the awe inspiring waterfalls of Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, the cascading waters of Seljalandsfoss, and Reynisfjara Beach, with iconic black sands and dramatic basalt columns.
We will journey through Vatnajökull National Park, visit to Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, continue exploring Skaftafell, and head to the charming coastal town of Vík.
We will stop in the charming village of Hveragerdi, known as “The Flower Village” on our journey through the Reykjanes Peninsula. We will take a relaxing dip in the famous Blue Lagoon. Our farewell dinner in Reykjavik will be an opportunity to reflect on the incredible experiences and newfound friendships from our knitting adventure.
